The Muslim students of IChemC in association with the Student Council celebrated Ifthar (act of breaking fast with dates, water and refreshments) on March 27.
Students and internal academic staff representing different communities participated in the event.
Consular Affairs Officer, Embassy of Qatar in Colombo, Sheikh Ahmadh Yasir Ismail, delivered a speech on important aspects of fasting during the month of Ramadhan. He conducted the Maghrib prayers (one of the five compulsory prayers) for the Muslim members in the audience.
IChemC encourages similar events organised by the students to promote harmony and reconciliation among the students and the staff.
