Shammi Silva has been re-elected as the President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) uncontested during the 64th Annual General Meeting held in on Monday (31).
Silva was elected uncontested for the 2025-2027 term, continuing his leadership role for the fourth consecutive time. Notably, this marks the third instance in which Silva has been elected uncontested as President.
Under Silva’s leadership, SLC has navigated various challenges in the international cricketing landscape and his re-election reflects the confidence the cricketing community places in his stewardship. Silva’s fourth consecutive term showcases his strong influence within the governing body and he remains a central figure in Sri Lanka’s cricketing administration.
In addition to his role with SLC, Silva’s influence extends beyond the country’s borders. In December last year, he succeeded Jay Shah as the President of the Asian Cricket Council, further cementing his prominent position in the world of cricket governance.
Silva’s leadership has been characterized by efforts to improve the game in Sri Lanka, both on and off the field. His re-election ensures that he will continue to oversee SLC’s operations and work toward enhancing the country’s cricketing future for another two years.
The election was held under the supervision of the Election Committee chaired by Retired Court of Appeal Justice Malani Gunaratne, who officially declared the results.
