Dharmaraja College beat Kingswood College by 85 runs in their 36th “Battle of the Maroons” limited Overs Cricket encounter and clinched the “Winston Hoole memorial Trophy” on Friday.
Dharmaraja elected to bat first at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
They scored 251 runs for 7 wickets in their allotted 50 overs.
Lakwin Abeysinghe scored 67 runs off 77 deliveries with 8 boundaries and a six.
Tharindu Warnakulage scored 50 runs off 83 deliveries with 5 boundaries and a six. Lakwin Abeysinghe and Tharindu Warnakulage put on a partnership of 124 runs for the fourth wicket.
Kavindu Gunarathne (48 n.o.) and Kashyapa Dissanayake (29) helped to build their innings.
Kingswood replies with only 166 runs off 41.1 overs. Skipper Kavija Gamage scored 42 runs. Nikeshala Nanayakkara (25) and Chanul Kodituwakku (22) helped boost their innings.
Sumeda Prasad claimed 3 wickets for 17 runs.
Lakwin Abeysinghe of Dharmaraja was adjudged man of the match.
