The Leo Club of SLIIT successfully concluded the third phase of its signature project, Sanhida Yathra, a two-day initiative held in celebration of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, with a strong emphasis on cultural harmony and national unity.On April 3rd, the first day of the project was held at Kothalawala Maha Vidyalaya, where students actively participated in traditional Sinhala New Year customs, games, and folk activities. The event also featured an educational session highlighting the significance and values behind these age-old traditions. Retired school principal Ananda Rathnayake joined the event as a special guest, adding depth and value through his wisdom and experience.
The second day, held on April 11th at the Sri Angala Parameshwari Amman Kovil, focused on the Tamil cultural essence of the New Year. This day allowed participants to appreciate and engage with vibrant Tamil traditions, rituals, and practices.
Through Sanhida Yathra, the Leo Club of SLIIT aimed to build bridges between communities, celebrate cultural diversity, and pass on rich heritage to the younger generation. The project stood as a meaningful step toward mutual understanding, respect, and a united Sri Lanka.
