Sri Lanka Under-19 defeated Bangladesh Under-19 by 98 runs in the first Youth ODI played at the CCC Grounds in Maitland Crescent yesterday.

The home side recovered from an early setback to post a challenging 241 for six from their 50 overs after they had won the toss and elected to bat first.

Middle order batsman Chamika Heenatigala hit a fighting unbeaten 78 from 92 balls with the help of one six and four boundaries while Senuja Wekunagoda made a solid half century from 74 balls inclusive of four boundaries.

In reply, the visitors were bowled out for 143 runs in 33.3 overs. Vigneshwaran Akash claimed a superb five wicket haul and was well supported by Kugadas Mathulan (2/30) and Kithma Vidanapathirana (2/17).
