Last week we visited the Pinnawala Elephant orphanage. It is in the Kegalle District. It was established in 1975 with seven orphaned elephants. The first baby elephant in Pinnawala was born in 1984. There are 93 orphan elephants in Pinnawala. We saw baby elephants being bottle fed and taking a bath in the river. It was a very enjoyable visit. We must protect these elephants.
