Like the words of the song unfolds Christmas is the time when music is significant and enjoyment is plenty. So soak yourself in the variety of music that will echo in the Lounge and Bar (LAB) of the Hilton, Colombo till December 25. Titled ‘Angels in Song’ this special spread of music commenced on December 6 with leading musicians being featured from 7.30 – 8 p.m. nightly. The due musicians whose performances you must not miss are Revel – guitar and Janith – sax and Tilanka – flute and Lydia – violin. Apart from these performances there is a wealth of Christmas carols coming your way commencing December 20 when the LAB will feature well known choirs commencing 8 p.m. each night. According to Hilton Colombo’s schedule the Old Joes Choir will commence their performance 8 p.m. on December 20. So too will the other choirs. On December 21st and December 23 Resonance the choir will be featured while Camerati will be in performance on December 22. The choir Choro Calibre who shot into fame in a short time as they came on the music scene will be featured on Christmas Eve December 24 and on Christmas Day December 25.
Of course it goes without saying that Hilton Colombo music line up for the week has always been musically significant and enjoyable and continues to do so.
To help you remember the following groups who will be in action Monday to Sunday commencing at 8 p.m. till midnight-you have a wide and varied choice. On Mondays it will be the group Heat to entertain you, on Tuesdays MoU, Wednesdays the well established Flame will heat up the night, on Thursdays En Route led by Dr. Gananath Dasanayake, Fridays and Saturdays the Miracles and on Sundays the group Jazz.
Of course, most important of all the New Year’s Eve bashes. The Gala Dinner Dance at the Grand Ballroom will see Black and the Miracle with Kevin Almeida and Geoff Fernando ringing the New Year in with their special kind of music while at the Poolside the New Year’s Eve bash will see 7 DJs in action. Who could forget Kapila, Bonnie, Danushka, Naushad, Sushan, Wendell and Hiranya who are all geared to spin and mix the grooves the way you want it to be on a New Year’s Eve.
