The sons of ex-St. Peter’s College and Sri Lanka sportsmen stole the limelight at the concluded Ritzbury Relay Carnival 2023 as they grabbed the all-island under-12 championship while their under-14 athletes took third place in the 4X200m at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.
The under 12 champion team comprised Seth Abeygoonewardena (son of former rugby Number Eight Sanjeewa Abeygoonewardena), Yuhas Wimalawansa (son of ex-Sri Lanka sprinter Ranga Wimalawansa), Lisara Rambukwella, Eran Dissanayake and Mikhail Dean while the under 14 team was represented by the Peterite under 14 rugby player Nathan Ferreira, Akain Weerakoon, Sujitharan Nijesh, Mohamed Abdullah and Meron Perera.
They were coached by ID Premasiri (head coach), Lakmal Subasinghe and junior coach Nirmalath Cooray.
