Kandy SC host Havies

Kandy SC host Havelock SC in their Nippon Paint trophy second round rugby encounter at Nittawela today. The encounter between these two teams has drawn great rivalry every season and should be a closely fought out battle with Kandy SC likely to win the contest.

Trinitian swimmer Senuja selected

Senuja Samarasinghe the Trinity College swimming captain has made his school and Kandy proud by been selected for the Sri Lanka National Swimming Pool.

Sylvestrians win at gymnastics

Over 180 gymnasts took part in the Kandy District Compulsory Gymnastic competition held at St. Sylvester’s College gymnasium Kandy and presented a good display.

The boys’ championship went to St. Sylvester’s College Gymnastics Club with 36 points. Kandy Additional Gymnastic Club were the first runners-up and Kandy Gymnastic Club finished second runners-up.

Mahamaya Girls’ College Gymnastic Club emerged champions with 22 points in the event for girls. Girls High School GC finished as the runners-up with 16 points and St. Anthony’s Girls College finished second runners-up.

Battle of the Golds

Wariyapola Sri Sumangala (St. Paul’s) College and Sri Rahula College will play their 24th ‘Battle of the Golds cricket encounter in March. According to the school authorities the dates are yet to be confirmed.

Sri Rahula College is one of Kandy’s oldest cricket playing schools. Wariyapola Sri Sumangala, earlier known as (St. Paul’s) College has a long history of over 140 years.

Rugby World Cup in Kandy

The Rugby World Cup trophy will be on show in Kandy on February 22 at the Nittawela ground. It will be on display at the Nittawela ground from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
