Three from Kandy in U-19 team

Three schoolboys from Kandy, Theeraka Ranatunga a left arm orthodox spinner and a good bat, Manjula Kularatne a right-hand bat and a left arm pace bowler of Trinity College and Traveen Mathew a right-hand bat and right arm off spinner of St. Anthony’s College were selected to the Sri Lanka under-19 team that will take part in the Tri-Nation one-day cricket tournament in Abu Dhabi.

KCC cricketers excel

Kandy Cricket Club are currently going places in the Invitation under-23 cricket tournament organized by Sri Lanka Cricket. They have won seven games out of eight to be on top of group A.

Vidyartha go all out

Vidyartha College’s cricket team is well prepared to take on St. Sylvester’s College in their annual cricket encounter for the 63rd time. They still have not won a match in the series since 1967.

Vidyartha have registered seven wins this season with an impressive win by an innings over Kingswood.

Kandy SC felicities team

Kandy Sports Club the winners of the inter club League rugby tournament was felicitated at a dinner on Wednesday.

Damith Dissanayake who provided a good service for the club for twelve long years captained the side this season.

Hockey Nationals at Peradeniya

Top men’s and women’s teams will take part in the 43rd junior men’s and second junior women’s hockey national championship to be played at the Peradeniya University ground from March 23 to 26.

The two tournaments will be conducted by the Sri Lanka Hockey Federation and organized by Kandy District Hockey Association.
