Sancharaka Udawa 2023 showcases Lanka’s tourism potential

The tenth edition of Sri Lanka’s largest travel and tourism fair, Sancharaka Udawa 2023 concluded on Saturday at BMICH with Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardene as Chief Guest.

Sancharaka Udawa was organised by the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB).

The fair offered a platform for B2B and B2C sectors and featured more than 250 exhibitors, while facilitating industry stakeholders to engage with related Government authorities.

The exhibition featured small, medium and large businesses related to tourism. This year’s edition also featured outbound tourism industry stakeholders comprising travel agents and airlines.

Furthermore, several universities such as Colombo, Uva Wellassa, Kelaniya, Sabaragamuwa and Rajarata were provided free stalls to encourage students studying tourism and hotel management a chance to interact with trade professionals.

Delivering the commencement speech at the opening ceremony, Nishad Wjetunga, President of SLAITO said “Over the years this event has evolved into much more than a trade fair, it has become a vibrant marketplace of ideas, platform for knowledge sharing and a catalyst for innovation.”

“Sancharaka Udawa has fostered an environment where professionals from various sectors within the tourism industry can come together, exchange experiences and collaborate strategies that will enhance our collective goals and improve business”.
