Five schools vie for top prize

The inter-school league rugby tournament will kick off on June 14 with five Kandy schools, St. Anthony’s College, Vidyartha College, Dharmaraja College, Kingswood College and Trinity College in the main 14-team A division segment.

The first game will be played between St. Anthony’s College and St. Joseph’s College at Bogambara on June 14 while Vidyartha will host Science College at Bogambara, Dharmaraja College play against Trinity College and Kingwood College will take on Isipathana at Bogambara in the first week of matches.

Senaka back to coach the Rajans

The vastly experienced Senaka Dissanayake is tipped to come back as the cricket coach of Dharmaraja College. He has coached Dharmaraja College juniors and seniors from 2005 to 2017, Azhar College Akurana from 2018 to 2020 and from 2021 he coached Vidyartha College.

Dissanayke, is a former cricketer who started his cricket at Dharmaraja College. During his playing days he scored a double century in the year 1984 in the match against Kingswood College.

Suresh Peries is Kingswood cricket coach

Suresh Peries a cricketer produced by St. Anthony’s College takes over coaching at Kingswood College. He was an opening batsman and a top stumper during his school days and at club level played for Kandy Youth CC, Old Antonians SC, Kurunegala CC and is a qualified level II coach.
