An ode to a falling leaf

7 April, 2019

So light, so free,
Dancing down the massive tree;
Kissing the ground
And rolling a little,
Resting forever in peace well-found!
You were brought up tenderly
On the lap of greener leaves.
Little by little you began to get colour,
And, as time passed by,
You found younger leaves
Growing up on your own lap!
Yes,
You protected them;
You produced food.
You gave shelter to the tired wayfarer.
You were happy in giving
More than in receiving.
And when the time was ripe,
You allowed others to take over,
Finally giving in
To the universal reality...!
Well done, Grand Leaf,
Adieu!
