The glow worm tango

28 April, 2019

I am in handcuffs
Wearing a paper face
Down the dark alley,
I walk
Looking for myself
The wind howls from a
distance
I break out of the handcuffs
And breathe
I am in handcuffs
Wearing a paper face
Towards the darkest cave, I walk
Looking for myself
The luminous light gleams from a distance
I break out of the handcuffs
And breathe
“I fade into darkness
for I am veiled in the sunlight”
Says the glow worm
“And it is by choice”
He expounds
Swaying his head sideways
I enter uninvited
“Stupidity is a gift”
I hear him singing
I chew my soul
While the veins rupture
In the rhythm of the tango
for how long?
I sway my head sideways
I stand against my shadow
Wearing a paper face and Soulless
While in handcuffs
Waiting for your prayers to rescue me
On a wandering soul’s day
And It is by choice
