The Southern District Synod of the Sri Lanka Methodist Church was held on 2nd and 3rd June 2017 under the patronage of the District Chairman Rev. Anura Perera at the Pethiyagoda Methodist Church. 208 members participated in the Southern District Synod.
All Rev. Fathers, Evangelists, Circuits Representatives and Secretaries of the District Committees were included.
Previous years work progress and the future plans in the District were discussed.
The Ministerial Session was held in the morning on 2nd June and the Representatives’ Session was held in the evening on the same day.
The Chairman (Bishop) of the Sri Lanka Methodist Church Rev. Asiri Perera addressed the delegation.
During his address he made his comments regarding the properties of the church, the treasury, women’s and child care and about uplifting and moulding different personnel to the church.
He also mentioned about amending Methodist Constitution to serve the present day.
