Jury Convicts former US President Donald Trump of Sexual Assault

10 May, 2023

Former US President Donald J. Trump was accused of sexual assault and defamation by Ms. E.. Jean Carroll. According to Ms. Carrol, Trump had abused her thirty years ago, in mid-1990 at a dressing room of Bergdorf Goodman department store in Manhattan. After Ms. Carrol published about this in a memoir in 2019, Trump had branded her as a liar and defamed her.

A jury set in Manhattan has found Trump guilty of both defamation and sexual assault after a seven-day civil trial. The jury consisted of six men and three women. Following the verdict, Ms. Carroll was awarded USD 5 million in damages.

It should also be noted that Donal Trump is probably one of the most controversial US Presidents who has been accused of sexual assault by several women over the years. However, this is the first time such an allegation has been proven in court. This may also affect Trumps chances at re-election in 2024 presidential election.
